Our Story
The search is part of the journey.
Billy was born and raised in New Jersey, where he worked as a graphic artist and volunteered as an EMT. In 2001, he came to Florida to pursue a career as a paramedic. His path since then has taken more than a few turns. Today, he's a registered nurse, maker, restorer, outdoor enthusiast, and the founder of Snackable Steel and Discover the Journey. He lives in Largo, Florida, where his workshop is known as The Forge.
A different way of looking
Discover the Journey grew from the belief that discovery can change how we see the world and ourselves. People matter. Listening matters. Different perspectives can change ours even when we don't agree.
Purpose can change too. A saw blade can become a knife. Driftwood can become a lamp. A river stone can become jewelry. A conversation can change an assumption. A wrong turn can introduce a place we never knew existed.
Go somewhere. Try something. Make something. Talk to someone. Most importantly, pay attention along the way.
“The destination matters—but the people, stories, and discoveries are what come home with us.”
Because sometimes the greatest discovery isn't what you set out to find. It's what you never knew was there.
