Community & Editorial Guidelines

Discover the Journey welcomes people to share stories, experiences, discoveries, photographs, and perspectives with us. Submissions are reviewed by DTJ and may be edited, researched, clarified, or discussed with the contributor before being selected for publication. Not every submission will be published, and contributors do not post directly to the website.

When we publish someone's story, we try to preserve its meaning and individual voice while maintaining our standards for accuracy, privacy, respect, and responsible presentation. We can help someone tell their story. We don't turn it into our story.

Curiosity before conflict. Different perspectives and respectful disagreement are welcome. Factual disagreements may be investigated. Personal attacks, harassment, humiliation, threats, discriminatory abuse, or material intended primarily to harm or deliberately disrupt are not.

Personal experience may be presented as personal experience. Factual claims are checked when appropriate. We distinguish respectfully between what someone experienced, what they believe, and what available evidence establishes.

Privacy matters more than spectacle. DTJ may limit names, exact locations, identifying details, photographs, or other information when appropriate. Permission to use a photograph does not automatically mean permission to publish a profile about the person in it. Identifiable material involving minors requires appropriate parent or guardian permission.

Sensitive subjects may include a short contextual disclaimer when reasonably relevant. Discover the Journey is a place for exploration and reflection, not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or other individualized advice.

Meaningful factual corrections or substantial additions may receive a visible update date. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or presentation fixes may be corrected without one.

Discover the Journey maintains sole editorial and publishing control over this website.
