Submission Terms
Plain-language terms for sharing material with Discover the Journey.
Submitting material is voluntary and does not guarantee publication. You keep ownership of your original work. For Journey Token updates, public use of your story and photos requires your optional sharing permission; submitting an update alone does not grant that permission. For other discovery submissions, by submitting you give Discover the Journey a non-exclusive permission to review, edit, format, reproduce, display, publish, and promote material we accept on the DTJ website and related social channels. You remain free to use your own work elsewhere.
You confirm that you have the right to share the words, photographs, video, audio, or other material you submit and that your submission does not knowingly violate someone else's rights or privacy.
Discover the Journey maintains sole editorial and publishing control. We may decide whether to publish, where material appears, which pathway it belongs to, how it is titled or formatted, and whether it should later be corrected, updated, moved, or removed.
We may edit for grammar, clarity, length, formatting, titles, fact-checking, context, privacy, and responsible presentation while trying to preserve the contributor's meaning and individual voice. When a substantial edit could change meaning, we will try to discuss it with the contributor when reasonably practical.
Personal experiences and opinions remain those of the contributor and do not necessarily represent the views of Discover the Journey. We may remove names, identifying details, exact locations, photographs, or other information when privacy or safety warrants it.
Unless separately agreed in writing, submissions are unpaid and do not create employment, royalties, partnership, or any promise of permanent publication. We may decline or remove material at our discretion.
These terms may evolve as Discover the Journey grows. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
